Bikes in Schools Fundraising Project, 2016
COMPLETED PROJECT
Watch as one of our junior students demonstrates her newly learnt biking skills on the Rawhiti School bike track. The PTA donated $30,000 in 2016 to help pay for this amazing facility at the school - something that is used by the school students daily in lessons & break time, and also by the local community after school and on weekends.

About the Bike Track
The project is completed with all the funding and donations received so the school was able to construct three tracks, a 440m loop track to learn on with a small pump track and skills track with obstacles and challenges.
Our students can now practise bike riding without the dangers of being in traffic.
50 brand new BYK bikes have been purchased in various sizes and are now stored away safely in a storage container on site. These are used by all the pupils (and staff!) as a school set. The senior students are learning valuable bike maintenance skills to keep these bicycles in great condition for years to come.
The school is working in conjunction with Bikes in School Charitable Trust, the City Council and Rawhiti Community Sports Incorporated to help provide all students with bike safety lessons.

About the BicyclesWe need a good quality supply of cycles that we can maintain and use for years to come. We also need a range of sizes to meet the different ages of the students who will be using them. The bikes would be well maintained and will be used by a lot of children over the years to make sure they had a degree of competency before they tackled the roads, and were safer. The bike the school has chosen is a BYK brand.
