Another successful Quiz Night

7/8/2019

Thanks to all our quiz teams who came along on Saturday night to support us. We had a fantastic night and we were able to raise nearly $5000 which was a brilliant result for one night!

We do have to acknowledge our lovely business sponsors who donated prizes for the raffles and also food items for the delicious platters put together by Switch New Brighton. How lucky are we to have such a great community supporting our efforts. Thank you!

FEELING THE LOVE!!

Thanks for your support for our Fair!

On Friday November 30 we are going to be holding our FIRST EVER school fair. This is a massive undertaking that is involving pretty much EVERYONE connected to Rawhiti School from the new entrants to the senior students, the teachers, the office staff and all the parents and whanau.

We made the decision early on not to have ANY outside vendors at our school fair as we wanted to run everything ourselves in order to really keep costs down for our guests on the night. We will be making all the food, all the crafts and running all the games. And when I say 'we' I mean the kids too.

But we really wanted to be able to offer rewards and prizes to our kids for all the hard work they will be doing - whether it's a chance to win a lollipop or the chance to win a $50 book voucher. And this is where business support comes in.

Already (as of 12 September) we have have received a large amount of prizes and cash sponsorship from a lot of truly wonderful businesses. Please click the button to see our growing list of sponsors and make sure you support them too.

Fun at the Coast to Coast finish line

11/2/2018

Here we are 'live' at the Coast to Coast finish-line on Saturday 10th February. Another fantastic day selling nachos, pulled pork rolls and BBQed sausages and bacon to the lovely community of New Brighton and all the supporters, competitors and spectators of the Coast to Coast.

Thanks to all the amazing volunteers who gave up their time to help us out. Our food was very well received and we were able to keep serving until well into the evening.

We are lucky to have this opportunity to fundraise for the school but also to be a part of one of New Brighton's iconic summer beach events.

THANKS TO OUR SUPPORTERS of our quiz

1/11/2017

We had another successful fundraising quiz night on Sunday night with a great number of raffle and auction prizes up for offer. This is due to the great support we've had from local businesses in New Brighton and throughout Christchurch. Your support really does make a difference to us.

If you'd like to learn more about our awesome business supporters please go to Our Supporters page and make sure you mention our name when you go to visit them.

We LOVE VOLUNTEERS

21/9/2017

Volunteers are the best, aren't they? We would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time and services to making Boogie Wonderland such a success. Instead of naming everyone here I would like highlight all the many, many tasks that were undertaken by our wonderful team of volunteers. All these jobs completed - pat yourself on the back please!

(And if you look carefully you might find a surprising task hidden in there...)

THE JOURNEY OF THE PODS

24/7/2017

Rawhiti School has been lucky enough to have won a beautiful new garden, which is now in place outside the school library on the north side of the school building.
POD OASIS is an award-winning garden created lovingly by the team at Greening the Rubble and for a number of years it was located in at Re:Start Mall in the centre of Christchurch. However with the future of that mall uncertain Greening the Rubble decided to give away the garden to a community group that could make use and love this garden for many years to come.
It is our honour that Rawhiti School was chosen as the recipient for this amazing garden and after many hours of work and labour from the Greening the Rubble team, the teachers, the students, the PTA and families from the school the garden is in place.
Now we have a garden to treasure, a space for the children at the school to have a haven, a quiet place within the chaos and clutter of the playground to just sit and contemplate. Somewhere to chill out and read a book or somewhere to sit with friends and have a quiet chat.
We believe our children deserve inspiring and beautiful spaces too.

THE JOURNEY OF THE PODS

Thanks People of Brighton!

7/6/2017

Today the PTA were invited to the Christchurch Football Club rooms for a morning tea to celebrate all the charities that took part in Z's Good in the Hood promotion over May.

We were able to meet with the other deserving local groups who were also part of the promotion in New Brighton and we also received our cheque which is our share of the $4000.

Based on your votes, we came a close second in the race and were given an amazing $1280.00. This is really going to help in our fundraising efforts this year to get some new playground equipment for the kids.

Thanks so much Z and to all the people that voted for us.

POD OASIS is coming to Rawhiti School!

9/4/2017

The wonderful crew at Greening the Rubble decided to run a competition to giveaway the POD OASIS outdoor spaces to a community group in Christchurch. The PTA at Rawhiti decided to enter the competition to try and win these amazing pod gardens and seating for our school children as an outdoor classroom and reading space, and to also be used by our local community on weekends.
Last week we found out that we were shortlisted in the top 3 for this competition and last night at ReStart Mall we were thrilled to learn that Rawhiti School was the winner!!! POD OASIS will be making their way to our school sometime in Term 2 and we look forward to making a beautiful garden around this space. We are so lucky to have won these. Thank you Greening the Rubble!!

A Successful Rootin' Tootin' Hoedown

16/8/2016

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that supported our rootin' tootin' heck of a good time Hoedown on Saturday night. What a doozie! And we raised a phenomenal $3000+ which we'll be putting towards the new bike track at Rawhiti School.
Special mention to the PTA members who put in so much hard work, to Switch Espresso New Brighton for the brownies, Ribbons and Rosettes for the fantastic sashes, to The Dear Ones Photo Booth Co. for the crazy photos (Nick was awesome) and especially to The black velvet band for bringing the whole night together!
Check out our wee video below and email us if you want copies of any of the photos.

Our Generous Neighbours!

28/7/2016

Helen and Steph were invited as guest speakers to the Seaview Lions Club luncheon meeting down the road from the school in the Diamonz Tap Studio on Leaver Terrace, with our host Jan Ruardy. We enjoyed great conversation, a delicious lunch and we were able to talk about what's going on at the school and what issues there are in the general neighbourhood that we could try and address.
After discussing the plans for the Bikes in School bike track around the back field of our school the Seaview Lions Club very generously agreed to fund 3 bicycles for us, handing us a cheque there and then. And then they fed us! What lovely neighbours the school has, we're so very lucky!

Rawhiti School Parents - Coffee & Chat Invitation

Jan Ruardy, the director of Diamonz Tap Studio and Chairperson of the Seaview Lions Club would love to invite parents at the school to come along on a Friday morning and enjoy a free hot cuppa and biscuit. If it's a cold day, why not pop down the road and have somewhere nice and warm to sit and chat. She generously opens her studio every Friday morning from 9am - 11am for our community to enjoy. As long as the Coffee sign is there, she will be there. Don't be shy!

School Garage Sale was a Huge Success

11/4/2016

Thanks to everyone who showed up to buy the old school furniture and special thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the day. What great fun we had and the stuff was flying out the door.
All funds raised will be going straight back to the school.

Free Movie Tickets from Reading Cinema

5/3/2016

Yay! We have received 11 free movie tickets to Reading cinema at The Palms.
Thanks so much to all the parents who handed in vouchers over the Christmas break.
This is an ongoing promotion throughout the whole year, so any time you go a movie at The Palms please remember to hand in your vouchers.

How it Works:
Rāwhiti School receives 1 movie ticket for every 10 School Reward Coupons handed in at Reading.
What you Need to Do:
Simply cut out the coupons on the reverse and hand one each time you purchase a movie ticket at Reading Palms. As easy as that!
How to Make it Extra Awesome:
Ask people around you in the queue also hand a voucher in when they buy their ticket too! Worth a shot!
What These Will be Used For:
These are used as student prizes in the assembly, as well as for raffle prizes for the PTA. Everyone, young and old, loves free movie tickets!
